Want to
find out how to "trace" a license plate number?
See
if records are available from the Gov-Records premium database:
Well,
this is something that is becoming increasingly difficult to
do as time goes on, namely because of privacy laws and the general
shift in government to protect people's identification information
- and overall, this is a good thing...
The
DMV may provide records upon request, and this likely has a
small fee attached to the service. Some investigation firms
and reporting agencies also provide records based on license
plate numbers and VIN numbers, for a fee. Some have guarantees,
and some do not.
As
for online investigation, in reality, unless you have access
to an agency database or law-enforcement database of some kind,
it will be very hard to find in most cases. You can try searching
the typical locations: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Myspace, BoardTracker.com
and so on.
You
can also subscribe to "Google Alerts" in case it does
at some point become indexed by Google's search "spider".
Unlikely, but possible.
However
- that said - there are some related resources in Your Spying
Eyes that might help with investigating a vehicle - including
direct access to court records and some advanced people-searching
sources (and techniques).
But
we can't, at this point, market our product as being a definitive
resource for vehicle related investigations.
